A Promise To Make to Your Children:

jenny-morgan-hugging1Kiss them. Hug them. Tell Them: “I love you”.

A father, leaving on a business trip, kissed his family goodbye. The next day, his young daughter said to her mother, “I shouldn’t have washed off Daddy’s kiss.  It will be a long time before he can kiss me again.” She thought for a moment and then said, “But it’s OK. Daddy’s kiss soaked into my heart.”

In this very uncertain world, your children must be absolutely certain of one thing – that you love them with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.

Don’t let your children wonder if your love might be conditional – that you love them if they are good little children, if they get good grades, if they are the star of the play or the hero of the game, if they get into a good college, if they get a good job.

They must be sure that you love them not for what they do, but for who they are. They must be sure that you love them regardless (more…)

Preschoolers crafts are one of the wonderful ways young children can learn about the world around them as well as develop skills that are needed in kindergarten and elementary school.

These skills involve social interaction, fine motor development, gross motor control, understanding spatial relationships, and the beginning knowledge of language and math dynamics.

A Preschool experience can provide time for (more…)

For Math, How do we Know our Students are Learning...

zach-kasey

One of the most common questions all educators are asked is, “How do you know your students are learning?

At Integral Elementary we conduct individual assessments on a continuous basis throughout the school year. However, at the beginning of each school year we conduct individualized assessments of all our students in order to determine where they are at, what their needs are, and how best (more…)

Gluten Free Banana Bread...

banana-bread

My sister asked me if I could make her favorite banana bread recipe gluten free! Of course I can! That’s a much easier request than my friend who wants me to recreate the Hostess Ding Dong in a gluten free form (I’m still working on that!).

One of the best things about this recipe is that no mixer is required. Yet, another “easy bake” treat! It’s too bad that the blog doesn’t share the banana bread aroma and moist, delicious taste of this wonderful treat.

This recipe is (more…)

Cooking Gluten Free 101...

momcooks_logo_TM

This post is a “back to basics” for my friends new to the gluten free way of living.

How do you help your child when you know something is not right and doctors don’t know what’s wrong?

This is the case for so many parents. Our particular story ended in the diagnosis of celiac disease and the prescription of a lifetime of eating gluten free. While it may sound daunting, it quite possibly was one of the best things that could have happened. We found out that there was no need for expensive medications, surgeries or doctors. The answer was to simply not eat gluten and our son would thrive. And thrive he does! He’s been gluten free for five years now, and I recently went gluten free in June 08.

What is gluten?

Gluten is the protein found in wheat, (more…)

What is Integral Education?...

cie-logo1Integral Education is a philosophy and practice of education for the whole child: body, emotions, mind, soul, and spirit. The modern practice of education for utility or for productivity is not enough for the children of the 21st century. It ignores the highest and truest parts of their being. Too often it ignores the physical and emotional development of the child as well.

Integral Education unites the ancient educational goal of self-knowledge with the modern goal of world-knowledge. Both of these goals are admirable, and the two of them must go hand-in-hand in any educational system that is integral.

Integral Education assists the child to discover for himself/herself out of his/her own temperament and (more…)
